Ask how the price is calculated. Hourly rates should state the truck size, number of movers, whether GST is included and if there is a call-out or travel fee.
2. Insurance
Check the company is insured, and ask what is covered if something is damaged.
3. The right truck
A truck that is too small means extra trips. A good removalist will recommend a truck based on your home size and inventory.
4. Equipment
Professional movers bring trolleys, padded blankets and straps. Ask if these are included in the price.
5. Reviews and communication
Read recent reviews and notice how quickly they answer your questions. Good communication before the move usually means good service on the day.
6. Local knowledge

Questions to ask before you book
- What is the hourly rate, and what truck size and how many movers does it include?
- Are prices quoted including or excluding GST?
- Is there a minimum booking time or a travel / call-out charge?
- Are you insured, and what does the insurance cover?
- Do you supply blankets, trolleys and packing materials?
- What happens if the move takes longer than expected?
