Choosing the right moving day can make your move faster, easier and less stressful. Here is what to consider when planning a move in Perth.
Season: Perth summers and winters
Perth summers are hot, and moving in the heat is hard work for everyone. If you are moving between December and March, book an early start so most of the lifting is done before the hottest part of the day, and keep plenty of water on hand. Protect heat-sensitive items such as candles, electronics and medication by moving them in your car.
Winter brings most of Perth’s rain. A wet day does not stop a move, but it helps to have towels and floor protection ready, and to keep boxes off wet ground. Our crews wrap furniture in padded blankets to protect it.
Day of the week
Weekends and Fridays are the most popular moving days, so they book out first. If you can move midweek, you usually get more choice of dates and start times.
Time of the month
The end and start of each month are busy because many leases and settlements finish then. If your dates are flexible, a mid-month move is often easier to book. If you are locked into an end-of-month date, book your removalist as early as possible.
Time of day
An early start gives you the most daylight to unload and set up your new home, avoids peak-hour traffic on the freeways and, in summer, beats the afternoon heat. We move 7am – 7pm, 7 days a week.
School holidays and long weekends
Families often move during school holidays, and long weekends are popular, so expect higher demand. Plan ahead and confirm your booking a few weeks out.
