Apartment moves in Perth come with their own challenges: shared lifts, loading bays, strata rules and limited parking. Plan these early and your move will be faster – which also keeps your hourly cost down.
Book the lift and loading bay early
Most apartment buildings in the Perth CBD, East Perth, Burswood, Scarborough and Cockburn Central ask you to book the service lift and loading bay through building management or strata. Book as soon as you know your date, and ask whether the lift needs protective padding and what time moves are allowed.
Check access at both ends
- Ceiling height of the car park or loading dock (some trucks will not fit)
- Where the truck can legally park, and for how long
- Distance from the truck to the lift, and from the lift to your door
- Whether a key, fob or security pass is needed
- Any stairs between the lift and your apartment
Measure your big furniture
Lifts and apartment doorways are often narrower than in houses. Measure your couch, fridge, bed base and wardrobes, and compare them with the lift and doors at the new place. Our movers can dismantle beds, tables and some wardrobes to get them through.
Choose the right service
Most studio and 1–2 bedroom apartments suit our 2 men and a truck service, and very small moves can use 2 men and a van. If you are short on time, our packing service can have everything boxed before the truck arrives.
